This weekend I attended JorekstadLAN, a LAN-party arranged here in Lillehammer by some people I know, among them beltazore. I made their website, and got a seat in the crew-area and free entry for doing it. 
As web-crew I also wrote their compo-signup system, which I’ve dubbed “LANtools”. Here’s a nifty screenshot showing the system in all it’s glory:
It’s written in PHP, and weights in total some 2400 code lines. I found it worked out so well that I decided to rewrite it from scratch, a bit more cleaner this time. The new version is already seeing some progress, here’s an early screenshot:
I’m writing the new version using object oriented programming (classes), and separating the presentation from the code with the template system Smarty. This means you can use different skins/themes, and I’m also looking into adding support for several languages (at least English and Norwegian). I hope this system’ll prove to be a robust platform for further expansion.
A new JorekstadLAN is already being planned for the autumn holidays, so we’ll see if the new version is done by then.

It’s all under the hood, that’s the whole point! The first version was just a complete mess, the new one is written with classes, and templates separated out of the code..
