Our summer trip
It’s been yet another while since last time I posted. I never seem to get the grip of blogging, do I? Oh well, for those who’d care, here’s what I’ve spent the last week at.
Sunday morning the family departed our house and headed for a cabin we had rented in Son, a small place not far from Moss and Drøbak (or Oslo for that matter). Here’s a view of the cabin at Google Maps.
During the following week we killed the time with this:
Monday
We went to what I believe is Norway’s biggest amusement park, Tusenfryd. I tried these attractions:
- ThunderCoaster
- SuperSplash
- Japp SpaceShot
- RollOver
- The Loop
- Enterprise
- The flume
Quite a fun day.
Tuesday
We went for a “harry-trip” to Svinesund (for those of you who don’t know what Svinesund is: it’s a place just across the border to Sweden where Norwegians go to shop cheap food and stuff
). We didn’t really buy anything there, we just tried the new Svinesund bridge and looked around.
Wednesday
We visited Oscarsborg (Wikipedia article, Google Maps view), the fortress from where they fired the torpedoes that sank Blücher during the Nazi’s attack on Norway. A very interesting place.
Thursday
We visited the other side of Oslofjorden. We also tried the new Oslofjord tunnel (it crosses the fjord under the sea) in order to get there.
Friday
We decided to visit Moss, but somehow we ended up in Fredrikstad instead. We took the opportunity to visit Gamlebyen (the old town).
Saturday
We visited the town Moss and the shopping center Steen og Strøm Mosseporten.
I also bought the new Harry Potter book the day before we left for the trip (Saturday, the day it was released), to have something to do in the absence of a computer. Great book, buy it.
All in all I’ve had a nice week. I hope the confirmation camp in a few weeks will be just as good.
